At His Mother’s Wish and His Sister’s Final Words, Nirjhar of Brahmanbaria Travels the World

Fulfilling his mother’s wishes and his late sister’s final words, Nirjhar Boshoni Barman of Gokarnaghat in Brahmanbaria has been travelling across different countries, visiting temples and exploring history, heritage, and culture. Alongside his education, business, music, cultural activities, and travelling have become important parts of his life.

So far, Nirjhar has travelled to the Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and India. He is also preparing to visit several other countries, including the United States.

Nirjhar’s mother, Dipali Rani, always wished that her son would travel to different countries and visit various temples. His only sister, Dipti Barman, also asked him to fulfil their mother’s wishes before her untimely death. Inspired by his mother’s devotion to Swaminarayan, Nirjhar has visited several Swaminarayan temples with her. She is delighted to be able to travel with her son and visit temples together.

From September 1 to September 10, 2026, Nirjhar travelled to India with his mother. During the trip, they visited the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in New Delhi, the Shri Swaminarayan Temple on Diamond Road in Bishnupur, Kolkata, the Shri Ganesh Temple in New Delhi, and the Venkateshwar Temple. They also visited the Taj Mahal in Agra and several historical and heritage sites in Kolkata.

In July 2026, Nirjhar visited the Swaminarayan Temple in Bishnupur, West Bengal. He stayed there from July 21 to August 2, taking part in prayers and religious observances. In particular, he prayed for blessings and well-being for his mother.

Earlier, in January 2026, Nirjhar travelled to several religious and cultural destinations in India, including Vrindavan, Kamakhya, Mathura, Mayapur, and Nabadwip, where he visited Shri Narayan temples and other important sites. In 2025, he travelled to the Maldives, Nepal—where he visited the famous Pashupatinath Temple—and Sri Lanka.

Nirjhar says that Swaminarayan temples are renowned worldwide and attract visitors from many countries. Similar temples can be found in various parts of the world, including the United States, London, New Zealand, and Australia. He hopes to visit these temples in the future as part of his international travels.

Born on August 15, 2003, in the historic village of Gokarnaghat in Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila, Nirjhar passed his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination in 2023 and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination in 2025 before enrolling in undergraduate studies.

Alongside his studies, he started his business in 2018. He is the proprietor of M/S Nirjhar Enterprise, where he has established himself in the dry fish and rod-and-cement businesses.

Nirjhar is also known in his community for his involvement in cultural activities. As a singer, he regularly practices music and remains connected with cultural pursuits. He believes that life should not be devoted solely to earning money; spirituality and understanding the world are equally important. With this philosophy, he wants to make his life meaningful through knowledge, travel, culture, and spiritual practice.

Nirjhar’s family—his father, Dilip Chandra Barman, mother, Dipali Barman, elder sister, Dipti Barman, and brother, Saikat Barman—is a respected and well-known family in the area. Nirjhar Barman is also a descendant of Adwaita Mallabarman, the renowned author of the celebrated Bengali novel Titas Ekti Nadir Naam (A River Called Titas).

The family suffered a deep loss with the premature death of Nirjhar’s only sister, Dipti Barman. She died of heart disease on September 14, 2021. Before her death, she held her brother’s hand and told him, “Brother, you will achieve great things in life. Always respect and take good care of our mother, and fulfil her wishes.” Nirjhar says he can never forget his sister’s words.

His mother remains the source of hope, strength, and inspiration in Nirjhar’s life. He believes that with a mother’s blessings, anything is possible. Giving priority to his mother’s wishes and dreams, Nirjhar says that devotion brings spiritual fulfilment, and that a mother’s blessings can help one receive God’s grace and understand the world more deeply.

He hopes to continue travelling, visiting sacred places, learning about different cultures and traditions, and making his life meaningful. He also seeks the blessings and good wishes of everyone.
